More April Showers

We better have some really BIG flowers come May!  LOL… no, we still need the rain… as we continue to be a little over an inch below average on rainfall (since the beginning of March).  And we’re actually getting it in a good way… every couple of days we’ll have a storm affect us.  These storms have brought pretty good rainfall… nothing HUGE… and that is perfect, because it allows the rain to sink into the ground!

Today’s rain is still coming from the slow-moving Low that brought yesterday’s rain.  We even had a few thunderstorms yesterday late afternoon/early evening!  I was playing with my daughter when the thunder started.  At first, she was scared, and looked worried when she heard the rumbling.  But then we looked out the window and watched for lightning.  Every time we’d see it, I told her “now listen for the thunder…” and it became like a game.  Eventually, she was getting excited when it would thunder because she was expecting it.  Maybe I have a little meteorologist in the making??  :)

Anyway, here is our weather-maker this morning:

We have light to moderate rain this morning, and areas of fog are being reported.  The low, clouds and rain will hold temps down today… highs will only be in the lower 50s.  By tomorrow morning, the low it is forecast to be off to our east:

That means the rain will come to an end by tomorrow afternoon… but the clouds will hang around (and so will the cooler temps).

If you are itching to get out in the yard to do some yardwork, it looks like Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be great days to do it:  sunshine and 60s.  Just don’t plant any sensitive flowers or plants just yet!!  We always suggest waiting until after Mother’s Day to do so.  Or at least close to Mother’s Day… when we’ll have a good idea if we’ll dip below freezing again.

Enjoy your day!
Jamie

Wow, when we first moved to Ohio after my husband got out of the Marines in April 2007, it was warmer than usual. Last April and this has definitely been cooler than that. I hope by May it stays pretty decent!
