Happy Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day… a day to celebrate moving in a Greener direction… a time to come together to reduce, reuse and recycle.  Of course, EVERY day should be Earth Day… but we can use this one specific day to perhaps add another Green application to our lives.  Make one change to live your life in a more environmentally friendly way.

Last year, I made a simple change:  I started recycling more!  My husband was a little resistant at first… but once he saw how easy it was, he became a proud participant.  :)   This year, I stopped bringing bottled water to work.  Now I have a big cup that I just refill and wash each day, eliminating the waste.  Just little things, but they can add up to a LOT!!  What will you do differently this year?

This will be our last COOL day across the Valley.  We’re still seeing the affects of that slow-moving low.  More energy will round the base of the trough this afternoon, helping to kick off some showers and even a few thunderstorms as the day goes on:

Once again, small hail will be possible, as our freezing level is rather low.  The chance of rain will continue until this evening, and overnight skies will clear out.  That will set us up for some patchy frost early Thursday morning!  Temperatures will drop down into the mid-30s… some outlying areas may get down into the lower 30s as well.  The *average* last freeze date is April 24th, but a temperature of 32 degrees has been recorded as late as May 22nd.  So frosts/freezes are still possible beyond tomorrow morning.

However, you may quickly forget how cold Thursday morning will be when we warm very quickly under mostly sunny skies that afternoon.  We’ll be into the mid-60s… with temperatures still expected to be near 80 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

Thanks to the kids and teachers at Bauer Elementary in Miamisburg for having me visit yesterday!  We talked all about severe weather, high and low pressure, fronts and the always popular “green screen”.  It was a great time!
