Changes this week!

April 27th, 2009 at 6:59 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather

What a fantastic weekend… lots of sunshine, and temperatures in the 80s!  It certainly felt like summer.  The high both Saturday and Sunday was 85 degrees.  I actually almost felt like I was on vacation somewhere, the weather was so nice!  But then I had to go out and do some weeding in the yard, and that feeling quickly faded…  ;)   I hope there aren’t too many sunburns out there!

Erik mentioned in yesterday’s blog about the strong front to our west.  That front did produce some severe storms in the Plains on Sunday.  Here is a look  at the storm reports:

Today we’re still ahead of the front… so one more unseasonably warm day in the 80s:

But the front will approach tonight and move through the Miami Valley tomorrow.  This will bring clouds, scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area… along with cooler temperatures:

We are not expecting a severe weather event… but we’ll keep you posted of any watches/warnings on Tuesday.  Expect highs in the upper 60s to right around 70 degrees.

The front will stall to our South on Wednesday.  We may sart off with a few showers in the area that morning, but it does look to be a dry afternoon.  Then it lifts back north on Thursday, bringing the chance of rain back into the area.

Enjoy this last day of “summer”!!

Hey Jamie! We reached 89 degrees in Athens yesterday. I went over to Strouds Run to enjoy the sunshine and sat by Dow Lake for a bit. I forgot to use sunscreen again so my face is a little red!

Red Flag Warning now in effect until 9pm. Open burning of brush or things like that is not recommended.

  3. Jamie Jarosik says:

Any kind of burning is a bad idea whenever it’s this windy out. We’ve also been added into a “slight risk” for strong thunderstorms late tonight. Damaging winds will be the main threat.
