Last check… still February. And still mild!
That silly groundhog says six more weeks of Winter. WHAT Winter, I ask!
Keep in mind, the groundhog stats only have him right 39% of the time. And, this may be one of his off years, lol.
Temperatures today will continue to be above normal, as highs soar into the lower 50s. We’re starting the day with readings at or just below freezing, and a little bit of fog is also possible as you head out early. With temps down, and low level moisture plentiful, watch for some slick spots to develop. As usual, bridges and overpasses will be the first to become slippery.
Sunshine will be the rule for the first part of the day, as we warm quickly. Mid-to-upper 40s at lunch with the low 50s for the drive home from work. Clouds increase this afternoon as the next storm system heads our way. This storm is prompting severe weather in Texas and Oklahoma this morning… and blizzard conditions in parts of Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas. I’ve seen reports of 1-2 FEET of snow already in Eastern Colorado… with snowfall rates of up to 3″/hour… WOW! OK, so the groundhog’s forecast varifies SOMEwhere.
We stay on the warm side of the storm. Initially, we could see some sleet or snow mix in early Saturday… but it does look to be mostly a rain event at this point. We could see pretty steady rain for a good part of the day, especially in the southern half of the Miami Valley. There’s a better chance at more dry weather in the northern counties, but lots of clouds will be around. It will be another above normal day, but will feel chilly with the clouds and rain around. The storm departs on Sunday, and after a morning sprinkle or flurry, we’ll dry out for the afternoon. Highs will generally be in the low-mid 40s for the next week or so, with lows in the 20s. Above-normal all the while!
The blog lacks pictures today because our main weather computer crashed. Tara got the blue screen yesterday… and today it sits black. Hopefully we get a new one soon so we can make this blog more visual again! Have a good weekend!
