Arctic airmass brings snow and chill

We’ve been waiting for a long time for winter to arrive and it appears it’s here.  An arctic cold front pushed through the Miami Valley last night and brought with it some of the coldest air we’ve seen this season.

Not only are we feeling the cold but also saw a little snow.  Here are a few snowfall totals from some of our weather checkers.  Click here to see more snowfall totals from the National Weather Service.

We have seen several small snow events but we’re still running below average for the year.

We have a little snow on the ground and it looks like it will be sticking around through the weekend.  Temperatures with this air mass aren’t going to move very much.  Lows tonight will be in the single digits and wind chills will drop below zero.

The cold is stretching all the way to the gulf coast.  While they won’t see temperatures in the single digits it’s cold enough to have freeze watches and warnings in effect.

Stay warm tonight and throughout the weekend.  This chilly air mass will be here through Monday morning.
