Cool and rainy for the first day of June!
We’re starting Meteorological Summer with non-summerlike weather! It’s going to be a gray, damp, rainy (at times), breezy and cool day. Steady rain has been affecting much of the Miami Valley this morning, as seen on Live Doppler 2X:
The latest short-term models have the rain moving out from west-to-east as we head into the early afternoon. While we may still deal with a few showers later today, the steady rain will taper off as the storm system pulls away. While we’re starting off mild, this is as warm as it will be all day!
Notice the cooler air behind the storm… that will move in throughout the day. So highs will be early–in the lower 60s. Then for most of the day we’ll actually be hanging in the upper 50s. Saturday we still could see some wrap-around showers, especially during the afternoon. But Sunday looks pretty quiet at this point. When I pulled up the Strawberry Festival graphic from last year… it had 80s and 90s on it… quite a warm period back in early June 2011! But this year looks completely different:
Still a pretty decent weekend, despite a few showers possible Saturday.
I am running on 2.5 hours of sleep today, after seeing Wicked last night. I am extremely strict about my sleep schedule, so this was extremely out of character for me! BUT it was SO worth it… what a great show. The Wizard of Oz has always been my favorite movie (and that tornado was the first I ever saw!)
… so it was cool to see “back story”. And Wicked has quickly become my favorite show, too!
Enjoy the rain… we needed it!
