Hottest temperatures of the year

July 6th, 2012 at 7:03 am by under Weather

If you think it’s been hot this week, just wait.  We are expecting the hottest temperatures of the year, as we will likely climb into the triple-digits today and Saturday… breaking records each day:

With our dew points in the mid-upper 60s… even close to 70, we will be dealing with oppressive levels of heat and humidity.  Our heat index, or feels like temperature, will be in the range of 110-115 during the next two afternoons.  Again, I can’t stress enough that these are dangerous levels, and we need to be extremely careful.  Please check on friends, family and neighbors… and especially keep a close eye on the kids.  I know there are a lot of outdoor activities going on this weekend… one big one being the Air Show.  Pick your poison… you’ll either be dealing with extreme heat… or the potential for stronger thunderstorms:

Although temperatures will be a bit cooler on Sunday, it will still be hot and quite humid.  The REAL relief comes next week, when highs will be contained in the low-mid 80s.  I cannot wait to breath that sigh of relief!!

Air Force half training is getting increasingly difficult as temperatures continue to rise.  This weeks runs were moved indoors to the treadmill.  I detest treadmill running!  But the one good thing about it, is that I can force myself to do some faster runs, as I typically do interval training.  A big fly in the ointment, however, is not just the temperature… but also my health.  After last weeks cold… I thought I was getting better… but I either did not get rid of it completely, or have a brand new cold today.  I’m a little concerned that I won’t be able to do my scheduled long run this weekend… but I guess I do still have some time.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend and stay safe in the heat!

I feel your pain for training for the Air Force Marathon. We have 15 miles scheduled for tomorrow. We’re starting our run at 5am. I’m not a morning person!
