Just another muggy Monday
While it may not be a manic Monday (sorry if I got that song stuck in your head) because today is a holiday it is a muggy one! Dew points, which measure how much moisture is in the air, are in the upper 60′s and near 70. Whenever we see these values it feels humid and uncomfortable. For those of you with allergy problems you’ll need to keep the AC going another day.
The high dew points will continue through at least Tuesday. They’ll begin to drop a little more on Wednesday.
Along with the warm and humid conditions we’ll also see the chance for scattered showers. For those who do see the rain some of them may be on the moderate to heavy side. Keep the umbrella handy and you can always check out wdtn.com for the latest scan of Live Doppler 2HD.
There’s still a chance for a few showers on Tuesday as well. This moisture is all leftover from what was Hurricane Isaac. The system will finally lose its grip on the Miami Valley by late Tuesday.
Weekend rainfall varied over the Miami Valley but here’s a look at some of the 48 hour rainfall totals.
This weekend’s rain canceled a few events across the Miami Valley. The first one on Saturday night in Huber Heights where the new Eichelberger Theater was going to be showcased. However about three inches of rain fell in Huber Heights creating some minor flooding and canceling the event. The amphitheater will be officially unveiled today. Another event was also canceled due to rain. The Wix Filters Baltes Classic at Eldora Speedway in Mercer County had to be shutdown. If you purchased a ticket or pit pass you may use them at any other event this year or you may return it for a refund.
It appears this Labor Day may be warm, humid with a chance of showers but do you remember last year? Highs were only near 62! Thanks to the NWS Wilmington for looking up these stats.
Have a wonderful day!

It seems the remnants of Isaac act similar to last year’s remnants of Lee.
Isaac is bringing a little more rainfall farther west – Lee moved farther east and didn’t bring that much rain to IL and IN. Isaac has been a beast trying to forecast. The computer models haven’t been able to exactly track where it’s going – it slowed down over the weekend which produced heavier rain west of the Miami Valley in Indiana on Sunday. The one thing I’ve noticed with this system is there is a LOT of humidity. Dew points are in the upper 60′s near 70 lots of moisture so there’s the potential for heavy rain when and where the showers show up.
It also seems that we were also close to setting a record for the highest low temperature ever for Labor Day.
