Few showers today… more by Friday evening
Another day, another foggy morning! The good news today, the fog was not AS widespread as yesterday… so we didn’t have the school delays or as many accidents. But it did still reduce visibility to a quarter of a mile or less in spots–especially the southwest Miami Valley. A weak front moves through today, and it just brings a slight chance of a spotty shower or thunderstorm… a lot of locations won’t see any rain at all:
Expect another warm and slightly humid day… although the humidity won’t be as oppressive as it was earlier in the week. Friday looks dry, with high pressure drifting over Ohio… but by Friday evening, all eyes will be on a complex of thunderstorms to our west:
This looks to move in during the later evening hours–after 9 or 10pm. But the timing could change, so be sure to stay tuned for updates… especially if you are heading out to high school football games Friday evening! Some of the thunderstorms have the potential to be on the strong side, and the SPC has us in an Elevated Risk for severe weather:
Again, we always recommend you download the 2News App & sign up for Text Alerts for your county so you can stay connected if you will be out and about. Rain chances remain high Friday night into Saturday morning:
Behind this system, we’ll see MUCH cooler air move in for the weekend and next week. It will feel like early Fall, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s. Rain chances will be low, too, with high pressure in control and lots of sunshine.
In the tropics, we now have the first major hurricane of the season, Michael. (Major is Cat 3 or stronger, and Michael is a Cat 3 ). Besides Michael, we also have Leslie (a Cat1). AND could we see the next named storm? The HNC is watching an area of convection in the Gulf, and has pegged it with a 40% chance of tropical cyclone formation:
Interesting tidbit, this disturbed area is actually a portion of the remnants of Isaac! If it develops over the next day or so, it would be Nadine.
