Brief warm-up today… showers tonight

High pressure helped to break up the pesky low-cloud deck over much of the Miami Valley yesterday.  Clouds lingered a bit longer in the southern counties.  Now that high is moving off to the east, but will continue to keep things quiet through the day today.

The next storm system is still well off to the west this morning:

That heads our way–but doesn’t get here until after 11pm tonight.  Initially, we have the chance of rain as this feature moves in:

During the overnight, as we turn colder throughout the atmosphere, a mixing with… and eventually a change over to… snow is possible.  The northern counties will see this happen first, and it will spread south from there.  Any snow accumulation looks light… up to a half-inch seems reasonable.  There could be isolated higher amounts across the north, so Friday morning we’ll have to watch for slick conditions with temps near freezing.

We dry out quickly for Friday afternoon as high pressure builds in.  The weekend starts sunny and chilly, but we’re back in the 40s on Sunday… with another chance of rain late-day.
