Our weather changes– big-time– each day…February 25th, 2013 at 6:23 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather
The week will start nice enough, but as another storm moves our way… we’ll see big time changes, each day through mid-week. Here’s the rundown…
Today: High pressure is in control… this means lighter winds, plenty of sunshine and near–if not slightly above–normal temperatures. Really, the nicest day of the week!
Things change for Tuesday, as a strong storm system lifts into the region. Right now, that storm is affecting the central part of the country, and areas that saw very heavy snow last week are getting another dose of it. Check out the watches and warnings currently in effect:
Some spots could see anywhere from one to two feet of snow–on top of what they got last week! As that storm heads our way, we will be on the “warmer” side of it initially, so we won’t see the heavy snow that those communities will. We will see our fair share of rain.
Tuesday: Rain will be spreading in during the early morning hours. As it does, we may see a brief period of freezing rain… but it won’t last long. Temperatures will be warming, so widespread travel hazards are not expected at this time; just watch for slick spots… especially on bridges & overpasses. Tuesday afternoon will be rainy. Periods of rain on and off (but mostly on)… as temperatures warm into the lower 40s. AND it’s also going to be breezy! So the 40s today will feel a lot nicer than the 40s on Tuesday. Not a nice day to have to be out and about, as you can see on Futuretrac:
Wednesday: As the upper low moves over us, we’ll turn colder. Highs Wednesday will only be in the mid-upper 30s… and the colder temps will aid in changing rain to snow showers. It doesn’t look like a lot of snow accumulation, but we could see some light amounts add up. Then we’ll stay cold right through the upcoming weekend. Yes, Meteorological Winter ends in a few days… but the cold will linger!
