Still unsettled and cold…
Happy Meteorological Spring!! March 1st is the beginning of Spring–for record-keeping purposes. Of course, the calendar season doesn’t begin until the 20th… so still a ways to go
A trough will remain over the region as we head into the upcoming weekend. What that means for us: continued cloudy and cold… with slight chances of light precipitation. Today will feature lots of clouds again… and we may even see a little drizzle or a few flurries. With morning temperatures at or below freezing, it could be just enough moisture to make some roadways slick. Be especially cautious on bridges/overpasses. By the afternoon, we’ll come up into the mid-30s… but that’s where we’ll stop. On the backside of an area of low pressure, we have a northerly wind, and we’re drawing in colder air, as seen on the 8am temperature/surface map:
Saturday still looks mostly cloudy, but we do have a better chance at seeing some sunshine by Sunday. It will continue to be cold however, as temperatures run 10-15 degrees below normal. There are some signs of warming next week… a ridge will be building into the central part of the country… and will continue to head our way for the Thursday/Friday timeframe:
That would mean highs in the mid-upper 40s for us. Hang in there!

National Weather Service is already close to throwing the towel for Sunday. With the cut-off low, I wouldn’t be surprised if we even wait for any improvements until next Thursday when a gradual warmup occurs (if not Monday).
