Unsettled but cool today… then turning colder again!March 18th, 2013 at 8:40 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather
A storm system to the south this morning brought a mix of precipitation throughout the Miami Valley. Most of us missed out on the heavy snowfall, but across the far south, there was some accumulation:
Then, overnight, we saw snow, sleet and freezing rain move through. It was heavy at times… with some of our local communities seeing more than an inch or precipitation. Also, icy conditions where temperatures dipped below freezing. One of those areas was up in Logan County… Sherry sent in some photos:
The good news: the ice seemed to accumulate on elevated surfaces, as the ground temperatures have generally been above freezing. As the storm system lifts north today, we’ll see a jump in temperature, and we will actually top out near-normal–in the upper 40s later today:
But that cold front sweeps through this evening, and temperatures will drop off tonight. We’ll hit the upper 20s, with breezy conditions and a few snow showers possible. Tuesday will be MUCH colder–and windy too–with highs in the mid-30s. Yes, Spring officially begins Wednesday, but that will actually be the coldest day of the week! Right now looks like a high of 33-degrees.
