Sunday snow storm update 3:30pmMarch 24th, 2013 at 3:43 pm by Tara Hastings under Weather
I just wanted to write a quick update on the weather situation.
Right now there is a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Miami Valley through 2 p.m. Monday.
We’ve had about an inch to 1.5″ already fall in portions of the area. You’ve been sending us your photos and videos via report!t and we appreciate it! Please keep them coming. Here are just a few that we have received.

Like I mentioned yesterday we are going to get a brief lull in the precipitation before the second round moves through later tonight. There is a chance some of the precipitation may fall as a rain snow mix to start between about 5-7 p.m. along the I-70 corridor southward. Once the colder air gets here snowfall rates will increase dramatically. I expect heavy snow between the hours of 7 p.m. and 1 a.m. with moderate snow until the Monday morning commute.
Here’s what I am thinking…
Now – 5 pm: Light snow east of Dayton, cloudy rest of area
5pm-7pm: Rain/snow mix I-70 South; snow north of Daytoon
7pm-3am: Heavy snowfall occurs – biggest burst will be between 10pm-1am could see snowfall rates at an inch an hour
4am-7am: Moderate snowfall – accumulation on the roads
Rest of Monday: Snowfall tapers to flurries with minimal accumulation for the rest of the day
Travel will become difficult later tonight and for Monday morning. Total accumulations still look to be close to 8-10 inches for Dayton west and 6-8″ inches for the rest of the area. More importantly this will be a wet, heavy snowfall.
Please don’t let your guard down just because we’ve see some light snow and it has stopped or if you see rain in a few hours. Heavy snow is on the way later tonight. Travel safe!!
