What a difference: still windy but a lot COLDER!April 19th, 2013 at 8:56 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather
A strong cold front came through the Miami Valley early this morning. It brought with it steady rain, with an embedded line of torrential rainfall… and a wind shift, which is allowing for COLD air to take over. When I came to work this morning, we were in the lower 70s… take a look at how temperatures have played out over the past few hours:
And look at the amazing temperature spread across the Miami Valley this morning:
The cold air will win out… most of this afternoon will be in the 40s, as the cold air continues to move into the region. We’ll still be windy, with lots of clouds, and we can’t rule out a few spotty showers today. A far cry from the 81-degrees we saw yesterday afternoon! We had ice cream and went to the park for some fun… because I knew the warm conditions weren’t going to last…
It’s hard to believe that was less than 24-hours ago! I hope you got to enjoy it, too!
Now that the heaviest/steadiest rain is over, we’ll just deal with a few spotty showers through early afternoon. Expect a lot of cloud cover today, and windy conditions will continue as winds gust to 40mph. Clouds do look to linger tonight, as the breeze stays up… so this will help to limit frost on Saturday morning. Temps will still drop into the mid-upper 30s, however. AND high pressure then builds in Saturday afternoon, helping to break up the cloud cover:
It will still be a cooler day, with highs near 50… and with more clearing overnight… Sunday morning temps could be down near freezing! So be sure to protect those plants you’ve already got out there… bring IN what you can. After that frigid start Sunday morning, we’ll start a warming trend and be back in the 60s for the first half of next week.
