Colder with some frost…April 25th, 2013 at 7:09 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather
What a beautiful morning! Even though it was frosty–with temperatures in the 30s–we had clear skies and a beautiful view of the full moon:
The April full moon is known as the Pink Moon, because of the wild flowers that are typically growing at this time of year… also called the Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon and Fish Moon by different tribes.
The cold front that slowly moved through yesterday brought a nice soaking to the Miami Valley. Here’s a look at rainfall totals:
We are now back above normal for monthly and seasonal rain… but running just below normal for yearly rain. However, not THAT far below normal:
I think we’re in a pretty good place right now! Today, the rain chance is low–just a 20-30% shot–and mainly across our northern counties. A disturbance will just brush those areas this afternoon, and may kick off a brief passing shower:
But it’s really lacking moisture, so most of the area will stay dry.
High pressure builds back in overnight, and skies will clear again… so another frosty morning Friday is likely. After a cold start in the 30s, we’ll see a nice rebound Friday afternoon as we climb into the low 60s for highs. The mild 60s stick around for the weekend, too, and it does look to be even warmer next week. Rain chances increase slightly on Sunday… but at this point it does not look like a wash-out!
