Snowy start to the 2013-2014 seasonJanuary 8th, 2014 at 4:07 pm by Tara Hastings under Weather
This winter season has been an interesting one! We’ve seen snow before Halloween, heavy rain, warm and bitter cold temperatures and winter isn’t over yet. October, November and December recorded above normal snowfall amounts for the months and January had its fair share as well.
Here’s a look at some of the snowfall amounts by month in Dayton.
Even after a warm spell and 2-4 inches of rain in December we still saw some pretty good snows.
We ended up with a foot of snow for the month which is eight inches above normal.
We’re above normal for the year as well. So far we have 21 inches of snowfall which is more than a foot above normal.
The average seasonal snowfall for the entire year is 23.3″ so we’re almost at our seasonal snowfall and we still have a few months of winter weather.
While we are off to a pretty good start we’re still a long way from setting any records. Here are the top ten seasonal snowfall amounts.
Cheers to a new year and a few more months of winter.
