Arctic air invades the area again…

January 21st, 2014 at 8:42 am by under Weather

Morning snow showers slowed the drive to work, but total accumulations will end up on the light side.  Here is a look at what we’ve seen through 8am:

Mason:  3″
Kings Mills:  2.4″
Covington: 2″
Urbana:  2″
Englewood:  1.5″
Sidney:  1.5″
Xenia:  1″
New Carlisle:  1″
Farmersville:  1″

Snow will gradually taper off as we head into the mid-late morning, and by lunchtime only a few flurries will linger.  But the big story today is going to be the COLD and WIND.  We will be dealing with blowing and drifting snow through the afternoon hours, so while road conditions will see some improvement… there will still be problems on especially the open roads:

And not only that, but the wind will also make it feel dangerously cold.  Our wind chill values will drop to the -10 to -20 range overnight, and we do have a Wind Chill Advisory for most of the Miami Valley for that reason:

So while we will be dry tomorrow morning… there will likely be additional school delays because of the cold. We can’t catch a break this winter, it seems!  This bitter cold will be with us through the end of the week, and we may see a few more snow showers late in the day Wednesday into Wednesday night.
