Weak front today; stronger one late tomorrow…February 19th, 2014 at 7:56 am by Jamie Jarosik under Weather
A weak cold front is moving through the Miami Valley this morning. It’s not bringing a big change to our weather–just a slight wind shift:
And this will help keep temperatures in check today. Yesterday, we got a little out of control with all that sun–we hit 48-degrees! It sure felt great, too. Today, it will be more like mid-40s for highs… but we will still see a lot of sun.
A strong storm system is heading our way for Thursday! Ahead of it, winds will increase… so expect a gusty day ahead. It will feel like Spring, as afternoon highs climb up near 60-degrees (we are forecasting 58 right now)! The Spring-like warm up also comes along with the chance for some Spring-like thunderstorms, however. The SPC continues to highlight an elevated risk for severe weather:
Here are the main threats for our area:
So tomorrow is a day to stay connected for sure, with the potential for winds in excess of 60mph. The timing for the strongest thunderstorms looks like it will be in the evening and through the first part of the overnight hours. Most-likely scenario is that a line of thunderstorms forms along the cold front. We will keep you posted on the latest on-air and online! @WDTN_Brian will have an update this evening–you can watch it live streaming online from 5-6:30pm, if you’re not at home: www.wdtn.com.
